Strategic Management, 6 CR, acad. year 2026–27

The course is part of the University of Eastern Finland's intermediate studies of the business studies program, but it can also be completed as an independent course.

Content: Strategy and strategic position. Competitive advantage. Analytical concepts and and tools to evaluate the strategic options. Development of strategies in organizations. Organizational structures, organizational processes and relationship management. Organization's position in the external environment, the determinants of strategic capability, the influence of, history and culture on strategy, sustainable business.

Objectives (learning outcomes): Student will be able to
- describe the basic concepts, tools and foundations of strategic management
- apply appropriate strategic management concepts and tools to business cases
- define and apply the tools and techniques of strategic analysis
- identify and describe the challenges and opportunities of sustainable business for entrepreneurship and innovation.

Course fee: Total price 94.50 euros, of which the summer university's share of 22.50 euros is paid upon registration and the University of Eastern Finland's (UEF) share of 72 euros is paid upon registration in the university's Ilpa system.
