Online Japanese course 2 (1), fall 2025

Dates and times: Sep. 29th, 2025 - Jan 14th, 2026 Mon and Wed 17:00-18:00 (Finland time). No classes on weeks 42 (Oct. 13th-19th), 52 (Dec. 22nd-28th) and 1 (Dec. 29th, 2025-Jan 4th, 2026) due to holidays. 

Lecturer: Japanese Government Certified Japanese language instructor and former professor of US universities Konishi Sensei, a Japanese native, living in Japan, has many years of experiences both in traditional teaching in very competitive and well known US universities and also in online teaching as university programs from Japan.

Required equipment: A computer with a camera, headset with a microphone and internet connection. This course will be provided using an online conference program Zoom, but students will not be required to create an own account.  Instructions will be sent some days before the course starts.

Content and objectives: An intensive online Japanese language course taught in Japanese and English live from Japan. The course includes a lot of photos, videos and articles of real time materials about Japan and its culture.

The goal of study: After finishing this intensive course, students will be able to obtain the basic language skills to survive in Japan. The study of grammar will be helpful to improve the proficiency and will lead you to upper level. Students will be able to recognize 200 Kanji letters.

Prerequisite: Completion of “Genki I” Ch. 12  (An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese) or equivalent.

Textbook: An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese “Genki II”  (third edition)  ISBN 978-4-7890-1732-9) published by the Japan Times.(via online bookstore e.g. Amazon), from Chapter 1~. Electronic version of the text book is usable but do not purchase paper back.

Duration and fee: 35 h, 160€
